Want Success? Pay Attention To Your Feelings!

Posted by on | |

One of the most interesting things about wanting things, achieving your own success and just generally having feelings of being more fulfilled, is that it has a lot to do with the way that you feel. That is to say, how you are feeling about yourself, whether you feel good about you or whether you feel bad most of the time.

My research over the last 10 years kept pointing me in the direction of "my feelings". Mostly I did not understand or accept this concept of "feelings are that important" or "let your feelings be your guide" because I came from a place where my beliefs required physical evidence before I could believe something new. That could be one of the reasons it took 10 years (perhaps most of my life) to discover the importance of how our feelings can affect our paying attention to what we want!

So, what does all this mean? How can an understanding of how you feel about yourself, help you to achieve your own success? I have learned it is one of the keys that will help you unlock the door to your own success. What I mean is, you can achieve success not knowing too much about your feelings about yourself, but you can, and will speed up the success process very much, if you are sensitive to the way that you feel about you.

To help you get started to understand more about you, it is helpful to ask yourself open ended questions. These type of questions begin with words like, "What, When, How, Why, Who and Where" to give you an idea.

Here is an example situation, and question. "I am not really liking my job anymore". From this place, you could ask yourself these types of questions Why do I feel that way? How long have I felt this way? When will I stop feeling bad about my job? Is there something else that I would like to do? What is it? When would I like to start to do it? Here is a very important question. What is holding me back from starting to what you like most, right now? Why is it holding me back? What are seven things that I could do today that will place me closer to doing what I like? Am I going to do the seven things? How important is it to me, right now?

Note to self: Do myself a favour. Make a list now of the 7 things I could do today.
